Barrel Saddles
Here are some barrel saddles we have made. These elegant saddles have been made from the ground up to meet the needs of the Barrel Racer. You can choose one of these styles or put together different details to design your own custom saddle.
Due to the many different backs on horses and personal likes. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE SADDLES TO FIT EVERY HORSE PERFECTLY. We have spent many hours making the tree fit a very large variety of horses. We have barrel racers across the United States and Canada that feel they fit and help there horses turn in faster times.
There are three trees we have designed that help us with saddles that will help get the fit you need for your horses.
The #1 tree (or the original) is the tree that fits the largest variety of boy shapes of horses’ backs. It has a 6 1/4” high gullet.
Because of the running blood coming into our horses, the scapula bone lays on a longer angle and is into the back a bit further, so the tips will protrude out of the back a little, making the wither area a little wider, but wide gullet saddles drop down and put pressure on the top of the bar globe and put pressure on the points of the scapula. We came up with a bar that is concave in that area, taking the pressure off, but allowing good fit around it and equal pressure, keeping the saddle from rocking or rolling.
#2 This saddle has the TH Bar with the concave front bar. This tree has the 6 1/4” gullet width, keeping the saddle from dropping down in front and keeping equal pressure all the way around the bar in front. It also has a little more flare in the front to allow the scapula to move front to back without extra pressure.
#3 For those heavier shouldered horses down lower at the bottom of the bar we have a TH Wide which has a 7” gullet to allow for that wider back, but will still stay balanced. There are only a few that need this wider tree.
We feel that with these three types of trees we cover the needs of most horses, as each tree fits on both sides of good so you can fit more horses with just working with about three thicknesses of pads. I recommend only breathable felt as it is more forgiving in most cases.
We have sample saddles you can try to check the fit for you and your horses. It just costs the freight both ways. I charge your credit card for $100 at this time and put a return label on top of the box and you send it back. This gives you the experience of fit.

SADDLE FIT AND RETURN POLICY!!
At G Bar G Saddles, we stand behind our craftsmanship. However, it is not our responsibility to guarantee a perfect fit for every horse. As saddle makers, we cannot be responsible for fitting every horse perfectly due to variations in breed, body style, age and condition. We use saddle trees that are designed to fit the majority of horses being ridden today. With the utilization of various saddle pads and blankets, most times a satisfactory fit can be attained. At times there may be horses that are simply hard to fit using our normal saddle tree options. In these instances, it is the responsibility of the horse owner to recognize this in a timely manner. You are welcome to sit your new saddle on your horse and ride it a short distance to insure that it fits properly. If you see an issue with the proper fit of your new saddle, please take note that you need to inform us immediately to discuss options such as saddle pads, etc. If it is determined that your new saddle is simply not a good fit for your horse’s back, it needs to be returned to G Bar G clean and in new condition for a full refund less the cost of shipping. If you continue to ride the saddle to the point that it becomes a “used” saddle, you will be responsible to cover the cost of depreciation and restocking. Please note that we do our very best to accommodate and care for your needs and the needs of your horse.
